Pants are garments that hang from the waist covering both legs individually unlike the skirt which although it too hangs from the waist, the legs are not individually covered but is spread over the two legs. In England this item of clothing is known as trousers. Some countries like Australia, South Africa or the USA call them pants.

It was long considered that pants were an item of clothing for men only, but in the late twentieth century the ladies pant became a much worn piece of clothing. According to the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy it is stated that ‘the woman shall not wear that which pertaineth to man”. As a result there are certain groups like the Mennonites and the Amish and a few others who believe that women in their communities should wear nothing but feminine clothes .But for the modern woman it is a “must have” item. Casual pants for women afforded them much more flexibility and they felt, modest. Pants made its way from the kitchen floor to the office boardroom.  The key factor here is that it should be smart and quality pants. Casual pants for women could be of denim or flimsy material and of any design or colour. But when it comes to office wear, quality pants that are well tailored and creased, worn with an equally well tailored jacket and blouse or shirt gives the woman the aura of professionalism.

Ladies pant come in a variety of styles. The most common form of casual pants for women is jeans and denims. Sweat pants are ideal casual clothing for a work out or just to hang about in at home. Leggings made out of cotton or lycra are skin tight ladies pant that are in vogue and are worn with a long top or under a short skirt. Harem pants give an eastern charm and are patterned on the lines worn by Jasmine in Aladdin. Bell bottomed pants are figure hugging pants that flare at the hemline in shape of a bell.

Casual pants for women and quality pants for formal wear have ensured that the ladies pant is here to stay.
